Grant funding news!
Jenny Lofthouse applied for a National Lottery grant of £8000 to upgrade the disabled facilites at the village hall, and the grant has been awarded, so the committee is now going ahead with much needed improvements. We have now had confirmation that we have received two more grants - a match funding grant of £8000 from WLDC and a grant of £7000 from Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service. This means that the hall will be refurbished without any cost to the Parish but will benefit all residents.
Total refurbishment of the hall is coming along much faster than anticipated thanks to the skills and efforts of the village hall committee - led by David Lofthouse and John Clark on the manual side of things and Jenny Lofthouse and Diane Clark working tirlessly behind the scenes. Thanks too to the many villagers who have donated useful items to the hall.
Take a look for yourselves. Instead of the dangerous slippery steps up to the front door there is now a ramp and a lovely brick wall at the front topped by the original railings. There is even a small patio area at the back. Fire safety requirements will be met, with new smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and new fire doors. New window units have been installed, electrical upgrade (to include new heaters) is under way. Refurbishment of the kitchen and completion of an accessible toilet is next on the schedule. Watch this space for more updates, to include stairlift and complete redecoration of the interior, as well as a purpose built storage unit at the side of the building.
